We Made It!!!!

Pananananama!!! Were here and all made it safe and sound.  Winds were a little lighter than expected, so it took a couple more days than we hoped, but was the best passage of the Natty M, so far.  We got a couple of things to get sorted and will write in more detail later, but were currently docked in Shelter Bay Marina in old abandoned Fort Sherman.  Safe and secure on the other side of the bay from the wild west, anything goes town of Colon (10 cruisers went to dinner there the other night and 8 of them got mugged, there is no safety even in numbers).  Shelter Bay is the complete opposite of this and backs up to a giant National Park, with jungle and crazy animals all around us.

Best wishes to everyone and look for the passage post shortly.  Cheers- Kyber

Way to reel in those fish for dinner! The pictures continue to amaze me guys. Enjoy being free in a fascist country and keep the sentinel posted to shun the pirates.

    Hey Guys,
I have just been reviewing your wonderful journey/adventure and must admit I am green with envy. It is certainly time that I weighed in with my 2 cents on your travels. I have discovered over the years that travel adventures can be truly life-changing events during our brief existence on this planet. Real memories are made of experiences like yours–not our existence back here in this rather unusual paradise known as “Santa Barbara.”
I feel fortunate to have spent time in the BVI’s sailing with some of Bill Deardorff’s buddies. Bill tried to give us some sailing lessons prior to our trip, but we always spent most of the time drinking in the Yacht Club (sound familiar)
Your trip brings back many memories of my trips to the Caribbean and Panama. I do love it when you stop someplace I remember from past wanderings.
Despite the delay, I think you will enjoy your time in Panama. There used to be a great bar/dance hall called “The Yacht Club”. It had a view of the ships lined up to go through the canal. Its patrons were sailors like yourselves, Navy guys, locals and lots of other entertainment , if you know what I mean. I think it burned down a few years ago but ask the locals as there will certainly be a replacement venue today.
Kyber, I was fortunate to have dinner with your parents this past Thursday at the San Ysidro Ranch and I also had the pleasure of their company at lunch on Friday. It was nice to get an update on your travels. Keep one thing in mind at all times: When you do return to this paradise you will be able to catch up on everything you missed in about 5 minutes or less. Meanwhile, your adventures will provide a lifetime of wonderful memories. The things you will remember most are the experiences getting to the ultimate destinations. Remember, it’s all about the journey.
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to your Pacific adventures.
    Stay safe and happy sailing,
    Alan
