Gettin Er Done

April 15th, 2008 · No Comments

ky_wide360.jpgWe got some more fun kiting and surfing in over the weekend. Surfed a couple of new spots with our new first mate Kahlil and had a blast in the fun, slightly windblown Caribbean Surf. Galion was epic wave kiting again, with barley anyone riding the reef, and plenty of swell to bash some fun turns. But since the weekend we have been working our butts off getting the Natty M ready for her next passage to wherever, we’re vacillating a little because the wait for the canal is now up to two months. So who knows where we will exactly end up, but wherever it is, the boat should be ready.

With some new lines, improved power generation, LED light fixtures, and lots of miscellaneous things fixed she is ready to go cruising again for an extended period of time. We even had to fix Ben’s poo filled holding tank, a friggin unpleasant job, but Kahlil and myself powered it out while Ben worked “hard” on some photos, he still owes us big for that one. It was frigging gross, and down here its just standard practice to pump you holding tank out into the Lagoon, so we have to get out of here to clean our bottom as who knows what you will catch in the murky waters of Simpson Bay Lagoon and to test our watermaker to make sure the contraption is still working.

I really enjoyed Robbie G.’s post on our website. Its hard to fully open up on the web and put your entire personal life on-line, when you have never been about doing that. But there is one aspect of this trip that is way understated at least on the web site and that is the emotional aspect. I know it would be helpful for me to express my feelings a little more and am going to try to do that in the future as I’m sure it would help me to get them off my chest and create a more realistic picture of exactly what we are going through. I guess we will all just have to see how that goes.

However, when you are feeling stressed out, because your spending way more money on this endeavor the you expected or things are just a little tougher than your expected. Its amazing the people you meet on the sea and how helpful and supportive the entire yachting community is for each other. You bump into people you met in the last island and you realize you have made friends for life. Our friends’ from Chippy are always cooking the hard working Natty M boys dinner, letting us borrow their car or Meredith and Tony of Blue Flame just giving us a hard to find part in the Caribbean for nothing more than just our friendship (Thank You Mucho). It makes you feel really good about our planet, that people you barley know are so genuinely helpful and caring and looking out for you. It feels like we’re part of a big family and makes you want to improve yourself to be a more caring, helpful person, looking out for your fellow man.

We will try to keep you all posted, as to what ever direction we decide to go. But, so far it seems like we spend a couple of months in what ever country we end up in, so maybe that will be just enough time to hang in Panama, catch a couple of waves, more fun times and improve our Spanish . Cheers - Kyber……………. and you gotta love warm water secret spots with no one out.
